Tom Hall

Project Lead

Tom Hall is invested in exploring materials and structure to produce highly crafted objects and spaces. Starting with Mētis in 2013, he’s been involved on numerous projects; both commercial and residential.  With over thirty years of experience, he works tirelessly to ensure a project’s goals are met. Process and intuition are critical components for Tom’s work and he particularly enjoys being part of the design process.  Attention to detail while inhabiting and imbuing a quality to space are intentions he brings to all his projects.  Tom’s work can be seen at Optimism (Stoup) Brewery, Rhein Haus, Katsu-Ya Sushi, Beausoleil Deck, Glo’s Diner, OSL Kitchen, and Mioposto Eastlake.

Prior to joining Mētis, Tom spent over 10 years as sole-proprietor of a residential seismic retrofit company.  During that time, he also represented Seattle’s “Project Impact” Program. Volunteering for the Seattle Office of Emergency Management, he taught free classes to homeowners and contractors to learn how to do the work. In 2005 he was part of the Low-Income Grant program offered by the City of Seattle for subsidized retrofits, and in 2007 he spent a year volunteering to revise the SDCI pre-engineered planset and information campaign for seismic preparedness.

Having grown up in Binghamton, NY, he pursued visual art and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from SUNY New Paltz.  Tom moved to Seattle in 1998, inspired by the region’s infrastructure.  His  works are in the collections of the City of Seattle and King County and some can be viewed at www.tomehall.com.
